I start by extending a warm welcome to our new members, the graduates from the Class of 2025. We look forward to you being part of our old scholar community. It is wonderful to see so many of you already engaging with SPOC Connect and continuing to pursue, through our SPOC clubs, the sports and musical interests you enjoyed during your school days.
A key focus for SPOC is to support our old scholars through their life journey. In February a group of old scholars starting out on their career journeys gathered for a Careers Masterclass with Andrew Reed, General Manager at Hender Consulting. The interactive workshop offered practical advice on building a professional profile, navigating applications and interviews and approaching opportunities with clarity and confidence.
The Summer Intercol programme against PAOC is a much-loved tradition, and I thank everyone who represented SPOC in Bowls, Tennis, Cricket and Soccer this year. The showcase of sportsmanship, talent and camaraderie across our old scholar communities is something in which we can all take great pride.

Our old scholars have recently enjoyed a number of opportunities to connect with the students at SPSC, including in the ‘CEO in Residence’ program, Careers Evening, Senior School Muster and Generations Lunch. I recently participated in an Old Scholars Q&A session with my nephew’s Year 1 Class – a very special, memorable experience and a great trip down memory lane.

We look forward to reconnecting with old scholars and their families through our regional, interstate and international Chapter Series events this May and June. Visit our events page for full details, locations and how to register.
For the car enthusiasts amongst us, the SPOC Motoring Club is hosting a drive day down to Wirra Wirra in McLaren Vale on Sunday, 26 April. Whether you have a sports car, classic car, supercar or anything in between, we encourage you to come along, meet your fellow enthusiasts and have a great (and safe!) time out on the road together. Find out more.
Finally, please save the date for the SPOC Annual Dinner on Friday, 31 July at the National Wine Centre. A cherished Old Blues tradition dating back to 1864, it’s a wonderful opportunity to get your school mates together, swap some (tall) stories and join what always is a fantastic, memorable evening. Tickets are on sale now here.
Warm regards
Oliver Sheahan (HWK 2007)
