SPOC Basketball Club has had strong interest from returning and new players in 2026 and is fielding nine teams in Saturday competions.

We've been able to form a team of 2025 School Leavers in the SACBA Under 20 Division where they can enjoy playing together. Aidan Fitzpatrick (HWD 2025) has excelled in this Division and has now earnt a regular spot in our B team.

Trainings continue on Tuesdays 7:30 at Burchnall Centre under the direction of Club Coach, Jared Vandersluys. Jared's energetic trainings have helped all teams perform well and are are positioned for finals contention.

SPOC A, B & C are competing in an In Season Tournament at the moment which we hope to report positively about in the future.

Former star player, Toby Yeo (HWD 2014), returned after an 8 year hiatus and had a great impact on our A team before heading off on an overseas adventure with his young family. Best wishes, Toby!

The Republic Norwood has hosted two Pub Night's for us this year with great attendance.

SPOC will host the 2026 Old Scholar's Intercol on Monday July 27th from 6:30. Our C's will look to retaining their Cup whilst the A's and B's will be looking to reclaim theirs. All are welcome to attend and support the boys.

The Club received tragic news regarding the passing of recent player, Matthew Van Schaik (S&A 2012), at season start and black arm bands were worn on the following match day by all players to commemorate Matt's time with us. Sadly missed by all.

To conclude, please contact andrewstr@yahoo.com with any interest in joining our Club in any capacity.
