The St Peter's Old Collegians' Soccer Club (SPOC SC) is making very good progress as we come into a fortnight long mid-season break. Our Reserve and C Grade sides have both been very good all season. Our Senior team, in a tough competition, started slowly but has had a very good last month and is now looking to consolidate a top half placing as the season continues.
Our numbers at training have been consistently pleasing and although we have, yet again, suffered with some serious injuries our strong depth has enabled us to cover that. The Lloyd Oval has, as ever, been very good to play on and we are extremely impressed with the redevelopment of the Farr Oval which is now an excellent secondary venue for home games, better in fact than almost every other Club's primary ground.
Our key focus for this season has been to develop our many young players, whose pace and enthusiasm has given us a real boost and, we trust, sets us up well for the coming years. Old scholars Christos Angelopoulos (HWD 2022), Dejan Dimovic (MAc 2024), Jack Foster (YNG 2021), Lucas Langley (YNG 2021), Jude Gale (FLL 2023), Adrian Duffy and Aaron Middelberg (HWK 2024) have all been superb and stepped up well, along with Will Renfrey (WDK 2024) and Ben Richards (FLL 2024) and guided by older heads James Theofanus (HWK 2016), Conrad Papas (WDK 2007), Tyrone Franchitto (S&A 2014), and Jack Gale (HWK 2009). Many others have had excellent moments too, including Adam Freeman (FRR 2023), Hamish Scobie (WDK 2021) and Alex Roe (YNG 2019) but the togetherness of the Club at present is most pleasing. A more attacking and direct game plan has been to our liking and, consequently, we are featuring, in all three teams, in some exciting and very watchable games. Our coaches are working hard and continuing to learn and develop and have been dedicated to their roles all season.
We are very grateful to the school for their support of both of the two functions we have had at home games so far - an Anzac Day commemorative event and, last weekend, our Ladies' Day. Chairs and marquees were provided for the latter and refreshments, as well as an outstanding schoolboy bugler, for the former, very moving event.

We hope to continue our good progress moving forward and remain in contention for some trophies towards the end of the season.
