The St Peter's Old Collegians' Soccer Club (SPOC SC) is preparing well for the upcoming 2026 season. After what was a quite good development year in 2025, we are now hoping that our many young players, most introduced last year, are ready to take the next step and compete effectively and consistently, for a full season, against hardened adult teams.

Our player demographic has never been younger, other perhaps than in the very earliest days of the Club in the 1980s. This is, though, a very good thing. At the very least it means that we are working with fit, athletic and enthusiastic players who will learn quickly what is needed at this level over an arduous and lengthy season. Whatever our results eventually are, they will all be better players for it and we trust that they will become the nucleus of SPOC SC for the next decade or so.

This demographic does shape our tactical thinking though, as we try to benefit from the player attributes we have and we hope to become a much quicker and more direct side as a consequence.

We have been training diligently since early January and many of the players have kept going very well, even during some extremely hot weather. Our player numbers look very similar to last year which is pleasing and we came close to our aspirational target of four teams but not quite; I think we will reach this threshold in 2027 and beyond, especially if we can make this year as successful as possible, and generate enthusiasm and retention as a consequence.

At the time of reading we will likely be close to our opening round (11 April) and will have already played a number of demanding trial games which are invaluable in shaping our teams for the big games to follow. For new players we can offer good playing opportunities, a fun and busy social schedule, sound coaching and the privilege of playing our home games on the school grounds. Please direct any queries to the Club Secretary, details below.
