The 92nd Old Scholars' Intercollegiate Bowls Match, SPOC V PAOC, was held at the Beaumont Bowling Club on Wednesday 11 February 2026. It was a chilly night but the atmosphere was warm.
Registrations were high with both sides fielding nine teams, a record for this competition. It was particularly pleasing to see such strong engagement, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for this much-loved event. John Morris (PAOC Convenor) and I warmly encourage all old scholars - whether seasoned bowlers or complete beginners, young or old to join us in future years for what promises to be an enjoyable and inclusive evening.

Early registration is paramount to a smooth running and successful event. John and I appreciate the renewed interest by old collegians. This year we pitted two novice teams against each other & they had a wonderful time.
In years past, experienced teams have at times overpowered less seasoned opponents - an outcome neither side particularly enjoys. Both Colleges have shared in those highs and lows. John and I are working carefully to match bowlers with bowlers and novices with novices to ensure a more enjoyable contest for all. If your team would like to play a particular opposition, please let us know early so we can accommodate where possible.
This year we were unable to regain the shield we sorely craved for, losing by 11 shots, SPOC 82 to PAOC 93. It wasn’t all bad as there were quite a few close games, much laughter and the greens were superb.

On behalf of St Peter's Old Collegian's I sincerely thank everyone for their participation, the teams who have been coming for years & the younger generation who have embraced this special night. We are also most grateful to Beaumont Bowling Club for their hospitality, particularly David Thomas and the club volunteers for their support throughout the evening. The greens were in superb condition and the facilities first class.
