St Peter’s Old Collegians exists to promote the interests and well-being of the School, provide a support network for old scholars, promote unity, good fellowship and tradition, and to develop innovative ways to enable old scholars to fulfil their potential.

We aim to do this through our ongoing engagement with old scholars of all ages, interests and geographical locations. At every opportunity, we welcome old scholars back to the School for a private tour, a reunion or a community event.

Over the past few months we’ve hosted a number of well-attended events helping to build meaningful connections across old scholar generations.

In May, the Class of 2015 celebrated their ten-year reunion, with a tour of the Year 12 precinct alongside the Headmaster. View the album here

The annual Fleurieu Lunch in May remains a key regional event on the SPOC calendar. Conversations revealed the strength of lifelong friendships and the stories they hold.

The inaugural Darwin Chapter hosted sunset drinks at the Sailing Club at the end of May and in April we hosted a fantasic evening at the Prahran Hotel in Melbourne.

We thank Headmaster Tim Browning and Chairman of the Council of Governors, Mark Balnaves (MAC 1987), for supporting chapter events in Singapore, London and New York strengthening our global connections amongst old scholars.

The Summer Intercol was filled with excitement and celebration with a convincing win by SPOC Tennis, claiming the E.T. Rowe Trophy for the first time since 2017. SPOC Cricket also deserve recognition for their dominant performance, retaining the Chester Bennett Cup for another year.

We congratulate the following old scholars on their recent sporting achievements:

  • Oscar McGuinness (WDK 2017) won Gold in the Open Men’s Double Scull and Open Men’s Single Scull at the 2025 Australian Rowing Championships
  • Cameron Huefner (WDK 2019) signed a three-year deal with The Perth Wildcats, joining as a development player for NBL26
  • Aidan Murphy (FRR 2020), Jonathan Harris (FRR 2023) and Adam Goddard (YNG 2021) named in the Australian UniRoos athletics team to represent Australia at the 2025 FISU World University Games.
  • Tom Harley (DAC 1995) appointed the AFL’s new Chief Operating Officer

It is heartwarming to acknowledge and celebrate the old scholars named in the Kings Birthday Honour List:

  • Dr Peter R. Rischbieth AM (MAC 1975) for significant service to rural health as a medical practitioner.
  • Mr John C. Rowley OAM (W&A 1954) for service to the Liberal Party and the community of South Australia.
  • Professor Emeritus John A. Carver OAM (WDK 1974) for service to science in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry.

At the annual general meeting we presented honorary membership to former SPSC teachers Mr John Roe and Mr Peter Warnes. Both teachers made a lasting impact on the school, leaving behind a legacy that is still honoured and remembered today.SPOC Treasurer, Andrew Jonats and SPOC Chairman, Oliver Sheahan with former SPSC teacher, John Roe.

The second half of the year is filled with many more opportunities for the old scholar community to connect. In July the Winter Intercol hosted by PAOC will take place, including the Intercol Golf Day at Royal Adelaide Golf Club on July 18. The History Unlocked Tour will be held at the School on July 23, an opportunity to walk back through time and share your own memories with fellow old scholars.

On Friday 1 August we will be hosting Cellarfest 25 in Memorial Hall. Over 30 beverage producers from our old scholar and parent communities will be offering a premium tasting experience, complemented by gourmet catering. This event is open to the whole school community and we encourage you to come along and enjoy the wine, food and great company.

The 36th St Peter’s Old Collegians Blues Lunch will be held on Wednesday 8 October. We will also celebrate the 60 Year Milestone Reunion of the Class of 1965 on this day. On Saturday 1 November the Milestone Reunion will be held in Da Costa Dining Hall for classes of 1975, 1985, 1995 and 2005. Invitations for both events will be sent out in early August via email.

Upon leaving School, each student joins an inspiring and diverse community of old scholars from all over the world. By becoming an 'active member' of this global network, it has the potential to open doors and provide new opportunities throughout life.

I strongly encourage all Old Scholars to join SPOC Connect to stay up to date with the latest news, upcoming events, and to remain connected with class peers.

Warm regards,
Oliver Sheahan (HWK 2007)
