As we move through the year, it is wonderful to reflect on the strong connections within our Old Scholar community and look ahead to the many exciting events still to come.
Our March Lunch and Muster was a fantastic occasion, attended by 55 Old Scholars. A special highlight was welcoming nine members from the Class of 1955, who shared their memories and enjoyed the warm camaraderie of the day.
The Muster roll call in Memorial Hall was particularly moving, with one attendee remarking, "The applause was like nothing I have experienced and such an honour to be guests in Memorial Hall."
Our recent Five-Year Reunion was a great success, with many young members returning to the School to reconnect. We now look forward to welcoming the Class of 2015 for their Ten-Year Reunion and hosting the upcoming Career Masterclass, where a recruitment professional will share insights with those looking to build their careers. This event will include a practical workshop on enhancing online profiles, covering LinkedIn, resumes, and job-seeking strategies, along with a professional portrait session for attendees.
Intercol fixtures continue to thrive, and we extend our thanks to those who convene and participate in these events. While we unfortunately lost the bowls intercol, we celebrated victory in tennis - our first win in seven years. The cricket intercol will be held on Friday, 14 March, on PAC’s Main Oval from 4:00 pm, and all are welcome to attend. Looking ahead to 2025, we are liaising with our PAOCA counterparts in relation to possible poker and clay shooting intercols. If you are interested in participating, please email us at spoc@stpeters.sa.edu.au
Another highlight on the horizon is SPOC Cellar Fest, taking place on Friday 1 August in Memorial Hall. This will be a spectacular evening featuring tastings from over 20 cellar doors, bringing together Old Scholars and friends for a night of great wines and conversation. Winemakers, breweries, and distilleries interested in participating are encouraged to express their interest by contacting SPOC. Tickets are available for purchase now.
Our AGM will be held on Monday 7 April, and all Old Scholars are invited to attend. The agenda and RSVP details can be found online. This year we will be ratifying the Honorary Memberships of former teachers John Roe and Peter Warnes.
Additionally, nominations for the SPOC nominee on the SPSC Council of Governors are open. Those interested should request and return a nomination form from the Secretary before 31 March. Details can be found here.
I look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events and thank you for your continued support of SPOC.
Warm regards,
Oliver Sheahan (HWK 2007)
