The last months of the year have been a wonderful example of SPOC’s focus on engagement and connection with our members and the School.

The Milestone Reunion Evening was a tremendous success with almost 200 old scholars attending the combined celebration for peer years 1974, 1984, 1994 and 2004. It was a wonderful evening for each cohort who had the added surprise of seeing respected former teachers Andrew Mackenzie, John Roe, Chris Taylor, David Docwra and Don Loffler. Our thanks to the convenors of these reunions for their efforts in organising such a great night. [View the full photo album here.]

During their final week, the Class of 2024 received their SPOC caps and ties, symbolising their transition into our old scholar community. It was heartwarming to see our newest members proudly donning their ties at their valedictory dinner and sporting their new caps throughout their study and exam period. At our Year 12 BBQ, SPOC Sporting Club representatives encouraged students to stay connected with the School through SPOC sport after finishing Year 12. A big thank you to our dedicated volunteers who assisted with this event.

SPOC also proudly presented many academic awards at the Year 12 Speech Night. We wish all Year 12 boys the very best in their next chapter and look forward to seeing them at future events.

I had the pleasure of joining the inaugural SPOC Motor Club car run at the end of November. For those passionate about cars and motorbikes, I encourage you to connect with the club on SPOCConnect, where you can stay updated on events and share your favourite moments. Congratulations to SPOC Motor Club President Henry James and his fellow volunteers for such a successful launch event.  [Join here to stay connected!]

Looking forward to 2025, we're excited to announce a new interest group—the SPOC Music Group, led by recent graduates Aidan Hua (MAC 2023) and Johnny Turner (WDK 2004). Old scholars interested in participating in a choir or an ensemble are welcome to join on SPOCConnect. We anticipate that this group will add a wonderful musical dimension to our events in the coming year.

As we approach the end of 2024, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our volunteers, including those who dedicate time to our ten SPOC sporting clubs. My thanks also to the SPOC Executive Committee—especially President Oren Klemich, Treasurer Andrew Jonats and Secretary Bianca Harms—whose tireless efforts continue to strengthen our Association.

On behalf of the Committee, I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and summer holiday period.
