The Saints Athletics Club past and current members reveled in the atmosphere of renewed friendships, recalling experiences of all kinds and appreciating the camaraderie for which the club is famous at its 75th (+2) reunion and book launch on the 25th November 2023. [Covid resulted in a delay of 2 years!]

A large gathering enjoyed the convivial atmosphere of Big School Room and the Big Quad as well as the excellent catering to add to the lively atmosphere. It was 27 years since the last major reunion of the club.
Attendees ranged from 16 to 91 and all ages in between, mixing happily in being together in this rare opportunity. There were several Olympians, many champions past and former club presidents and captains in attendance but so too were many who just enjoyed being part of the club successes and who had given their all in competition over the decades. Along with the athletics fraternity, were partners and supporters who also were swept up with the friendly nature of the occasion.

Both former president, Tony Keynes OAM and Hans van Bavel former long-term secretary, who edited the special 75th Anniversary History Book, gave rousing and emotion charged speeches and current president, Brooke Hines provide an inspiring video (as she was unfortunately unable to attend).

As with many happy occasions, the event went all too quickly and provided another appreciated and special memory for all those who were there until the next time we gather for another special celebration.

On reflection it is easy to understand why this club is one of the most successful in the Athletics SA Track and Field competitions over the last 75 years – and this event provides the impetus to remain truly great in the future.
