I extend a warm welcome to all, celebrating our vibrant SPOC community and recent achievements, along with a couple of remarkable milestones that deserve special mention.
Over 330 guests attended the inaugural White & Blue Ball on Saturday, 5 August. The evening was a resounding success, embodying camaraderie and tradition, thanks to your enthusiastic participation. Our thanks to event beverage partners Hewitson, Daosa, Deviation Road, Mighty Craft and Polka. Photos can be viewed on the SPOC Facebook page and SPOC Connect.
The Boarder's Reunion on Friday, 4 August saw over 115 old scholars rekindling cherished friendships, proving that time and distance are no match for enduring connections. Photos can viewed on SPOC Connect – here.
Embracing sporting spirit, the Winter Intercols showcased our unity and athletic prowess, a testament to our dedicated convenors and representatives. A full report and photos can be viewed here.
In the realm of sports, we've reached remarkable milestones as well. Richie Milne's (W&A 1993) 400th game for SPOC Football, Will Miliauskas's (FRR 2006) 300th game for SPOC Soccer and David Ogilvie’s (S&A 2010) 300th game for SPOC Hockey stand as shining examples of dedication and passion. Congratulations gentlemen!
We also commend Henry Sever (DAC 2010) and Ed Blight (DAC 2001), along with Henry Weir, for extraordinary acts of bravery for which they were awarded the Group Bravery Citation on 23 August. This award recognises their collective act of courage in rescuing four people from a rip at Petrel Cove Beach at Encounter Bay earlier this year. Their remarkable actions in such challenging circumstances serve as an inspiration to us all.
Looking ahead, we're excited for Chapter reunions in London, guided by Seb Henbest (FRR 1997) and James Dee (HWD 1987), in Perth, thanks to Ross Nelligan’s (S&A 2003) efforts and Los Angeles and New York. Information and bookings here.
Mark your calendars for upcoming events, including the Old Blues Lunch, the 1963 Milestone Reunion, and the Combined Milestone Reunion for classes of 1973, 1983, 1993, and 2003.
The SPOC Connect online hub remains your first stop for all SPOC related matters, and I again encourage all Old Scholars to register and keep their details up-to-date.
With so many events on the horizon, I look forward to seeing you all soon.
