SPOC Polo had a successful 2020 pre-season Fast 5’s Competition; taking out second place in the B Grade & first place in the A Grade competition, this puts us in really good standing for this season.

In major news, SPOC Water Polo have commissioned a trophy – The P.A. Hadfield Cup; named after Mr Paul Hadfield, honouring his unwavering commitment to the sport over the last four decades. This trophy is to be awarded annually to the winner of match played between the SPOC team & the Saints Open A Water Polo team.

The inaugural game was played on the 29th of January and what a game it was! SPOC held a narrow two goal lead for the majority of the game, the School boys then managed to take a one goal lead within the last ten seconds of the fourth quarter. Jack Duggan (FLL 2018) scored the final goal for SPOC on the buzzer leaving scores tied 7–7. The game went to penalties and Saints Open A won 10-9. We look forward to making this a key event for the SPOC Water Polo Calendar and hope to see more and more old scholars attend and feature in this match in years to come. Please get in touch if you’re interested.
