SPOC Football | 2026 End of Season Presentations

SPOC Football Club men’s teams largely finished Season 2026 on a strong note - especially with the A Grade’s win over Tea Tree Gully away in the final round.

The A's victory meant we leapt over TTG on the Division One ladder to finish in seventh position, while Sacred Heart lost to Port District to get relegated. While our Football Club can largely look back at this season as one of missed opportunities, it’s still great to take some winning momentum into Season 2027 and our A Grade can hold their heads up high, knowing they competed until the end.

Our B and C Grade sides finished in sixth position, one or two wins out of finals, so there’s plenty to improve on next year.

SPOC FC PRESENTATION NIGHT

All sides' seasons were recapped and celebrated as a wonderful time was had by 150 attendees at the recent SPOC FC Presentation Night at the Highway Hotel.

This year’s celebrations were particularly special as we welcomed our most successful team, the flag-winning Wilderness Old Scholars Association team, into the fold.

Hosted by Harry Silcock (YNG 2019) and with a lot of assistance from the rest of the committee - plus Marty Palmer (MAC !981) - our night of nights went off without a hitch and everyone was undoubtedly on their best behaviour.

While it was a night that our men’s sides largely reflected on a season of ‘what ifs’, it was still wonderful to celebrate the individual efforts of everyone across our football program and enjoy each other’s company for the final time (formally) before the Annual General Meeting in November.

In exciting news for the night, it was announced that A Grade Coach Michael Barker would go around again for Season 2027. 

Particular thanks went to outgoing Chairman Guy Roberts (WDK 1976), who received the Ian Gaskell-Moore Trophy for Outstanding Long Service to the Club, while Michael Pym was the recipient of the Ian Hayward Cup for outstanding service and Bruce Frayne (WDK 1976) was given the St Peter’s Old Collegians Trophy for Service Award.
