Rehearsals have been busy with the SPOC Big Band, with recent purchases of ten new charts certain to be showstoppers at our next performance. These new charts have a bit of everything; funk, swing, ballads, and everything in between. Be on the lookout!
We have been delighted to congratulate two of our members, Johnny Turner (WDK 2024) and Luis Vollmer (MAC 2022), on receiving prestigious awards that recognise their exceptional achievements as young musicians at both state and national levels
Johnny earlier this year was nominated and won the James Morrison Scholarship, an award dedicated to recognising and celebrating exceptional young jazz talent across Australia.

Luis was the winner of the inaugural Helpmann Academy Award for Outstanding Pianist, an award that celebrates emerging jazz pianists while recognising the importance of community connection, collaboration, and industry support.
We are immensely proud of both of our members in the wider music space. It has been fantastic to see our members independently venture into a professional music capacity and see such great success. You can see both Johnny and Luis in our Big Band (both on Trumpet!).
We have also recently launched private bookings for both our Big Band and small Jazz Combos, perfect for events of all sizes. We cater to you and your needs, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any inquiries.
If you have any questions for us, please email: spoc.musicprogram@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing you at rehearsal!
