SPOC Football | Season Update

With exciting wins and a growing number of players, off-field events and the support of individual members and sponsors the stage is set for a thrilling second half of the season to stay in Div 1.

The amateur footy season is a long one, starting with the preseason which kicks off before Christmas, trial games in March, season launch event in early April and then round one squeezed in between Easter and Gather Round.

The club exists to provide young men with the opportunity to play the wonderful game of Australian Rules and we've already had some exciting wins, a thrilling draw for the B grade and some tough losses. Results aside, we've been delighted to see a growing trend of school leavers joining the ranks, as well as players returning from interstate, or SANFL / AFL clubs, or simply coming back to football after a few years away.  We've also enjoyed acknowledging a number of players reach milestone games already in 2024, be that 50, 100, 150 or in the case of James Faunt (FLL 2008), 200 games played over 14 years of SPOC footy.

Off-field has been equally busy with the club hosting a number of events including the Season Launch event, the Hesketh Wines Ladies Day (which gets bigger and better each year), Past Players day, a very moving Anzac Day service and a Player Networking' event to provide younger players the opportunity to meet members of the SPOC FC community who have 'a few more years of career experience'. We've hosted the team from "Filming Footy" for segments with the A grade coach and leadership team, we've held minor and major raffles and we're planning for a massive 'showdown' lunch event on Friday 16 August that will be a major fundraising initiative for the club.

We'd also like to acknowledge that incredible and vital support of our individual members, known as the True Blues,  along with our long-term corporate sponsors (Duttons, McMahon Services, The Maid, Saint & Scholar, Pitcher Partners, The Physio Society, Klemich and Palmer Hospitality Group) and corporate sponsors who have signed up for the first time in 2024 (Intract, Spartan Appliances, EVO Hair, Taylor and Holmes, Creative Printelligence and Stellan Capital). Without their support, SPOC FC simply wouldn't exist.

Finally, the second half of the year requires at least 5 wins from 10 games to remain in Division 1. Support from the SPOC community certainly makes a difference on game day so we'd love to see big crowds on the sidelines to cheer the 3 grades to big wins and another successful season.

SPOC FC SHOWDOWN LUNCH

Special guest speakers are Tim Silvers, Adelaide Crows CEO and Matthew Richardson, Port Power CEO with Channel Nine's Tom Rehn the Master of Ceremonies.

The lunch is a fundraiser event for the SPOC footy club so there will be plenty of opportunities to buy raffle tickets, participate in an auction and hear about plans for the future of the club.
