The annual intercol tennis match was held on Wednesday 21 February with SPOC hosting at the Kensington Lawn Tennis and Bowls Club on a very warm evening. The SPOC team had a mixture of a familiar faces but also included some recent old scholars including three brothers (James (WDK 2020), Patrick (WDK  2023) and Sam Higgins (WDK  2023).

The format of the event is two rounds of doubles with 6 matches each round. The PAOC team got off to a strong start winning four of the first round of six matches. In the second round, the SPOC team really fought to the end winning three of the six matches. The overall scores was as follows:

SPOC: 5 Rubbers, 10 Sets, 98 games.

PAOC: 7 Rubbers, 19 Sets, 142 games.

Special mention to the pairing of Oliver Grieve (YNG 2023) and Tim Mittiga (DAC 2002) who won both of their doubles matches. Special thanks to Ravi Sathanthan (FLL 1995) and David Ogilvie (S&A 2010) who kept the players well fed and hydrated during the evening.

Thank you to those who represented SPOC on the courts and as spectators. It was a great night.

Looking forward to 2025.

Matthew Walsh (YNG 1995)
SPOC Convenor, Intercol Tennis
