Old Scholar |
It’s already been a busy start to the year with summer Intercols, the Class of 2018’s 5 Year Reunion, the Saints Community Golf Day and the March Quarterly Luncheon all being held in the last couple of months (view photo galleries here).
On behalf of all Old Scholars, I congratulate recent Australia Day Honours recipients James Porter OAM (SHT 1967) and Dr Timothy Proudman AM (WDK 1978) on being recognised for their outstanding contributions to the community.
SPOC is proud to provide a scholarship in recognition of David Docwra. The Scholarship (for Year 10 2024) is now open for applications. A humble man, Mr Docwra agreed to this scholarship being named in his honour on one condition: that it go to a family who would not otherwise be able to attend St Peter’s College without a scholarship. Selection criteria and further details can be found here.
We thank David Docwra for his continuing and unrivalled passion for both the School and SPOC. This edition of the newsletter includes articles from David about the history of boarding at Saints and the Blue & White. These articles are particularly timely, given the upcoming Boarders’ Reunion at Saints on Friday 4 August and inaugural SPOC White & Blue Ball in Memorial Hall the following evening, on Saturday 5 August. All Old Scholars and their partners are warmly invited to the White & Blue Ball, which promises to be an amazing night.
For the first time old scholars are warmly invited to attend the School’s Anzac service to be held on Wednesday 26 April on the lawns of Memorial Hall. This very moving service is attended by all Senior School students and staff. A morning tea will follow in the Big School Room. Register here
Sunday 21 May sees the return of the annual Fleurieu Lunch to the Flying Fish Café in Port Elliot. All old scholars and their partners are invited to attend this event. Register here
James Sarah (DAC 1982) of Sarah Constructions has kindly agreed to join as our guest speaker for the upcoming SPOC Business Lunch on Friday 26 May at the Lion Hotel. James will discuss with us Sarah Constructions’ journey from a small family business to one of South Australia’s leading construction companies, with major projects and developments all over the state. Register here
Also, for our younger members (from peer years 2014-2022) we announce the New Blues Drinks to be held on Thursday 1 June at the Maid Hotel. Official invitations will be circulated later in the year.
Once again, I encourage all members to join our online community through our website SPOC Connect.
We look forward to seeing you at an event soon!

Chairman, St Peter's Old Collegians
