From the Headmaster | December 2024

As an old scholar, you hold a unique connection to St Peter’s College. Whether your time here was defined by an exceptional education, memorable experiences in sport or music, or the beauty of our historic grounds and buildings, the impact of St Peter’s College stays with you long after graduation.

This enduring connection is evident in the inspiring stories shared by our scholarship recipients. Their experiences highlight resilience and determination in the face of challenges, showing how a St Peter’s College education can be life-changing for them and their families. It is a privilege to witness their growth as they embrace opportunities both within the School and beyond.

Equally inspiring is the generosity of donors who recognise the transformative power of a St Peter’s College scholarship. Service remains a cornerstone of our community, and our needs-based scholarship program is one of the most impactful ways we bring this value to life.

I am delighted to share details of a wonderful new opportunity, made possible through the generosity and vision of Thomas and Gwenyth Gepp.

The Thomas and Gwenyth Gepp Bursary has been established through the Gepp family’s generous bequest. Thomas attended SPSC from 1930-1933 and was in Da Costa House. He was an active and accomplished student who participated in Scouts and won the 1931 Vb2 Latin and French Prize. He undertook Confirmation in the School Chapel in 1932, and after graduating pursued studies at Roseworthy Agricultural College. Thomas served his country in the armed forces from 1940 to 1946 and later joined the staff of Roseworthy Agricultural College. A man of great integrity and character, Thomas passed away in 2018 at the age of 100.

In honour of Thomas and Gwenyth Gepp, this bursary will be awarded to a descendant of an old scholar, not currently enrolled at the School, who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend St Peter’s College.

The Thomas and Gwenyth Gepp Bursary is for students entering Years 9 or 10 in 2026 and offers assistance of 50% to 100% remission of tuition fees, fixed charges, IT levy and application fee. For a boarding recipient, the bursary may also cover 50% to 100% of boarding fees if required.

The recipient will need to possess all-round qualities and provide evidence of the following:

· determination, particularly in the face of adversity;

· promise in developing a good character; and

· academic merit or promise.

The full selection criteria and application process can be found here. Applications close Friday 28 February 2025.

We are proud to honour Thomas and Gwenyth Gepp's legacy by extending this transformative opportunity to the next generation of St Peter’s College students.

I encourage you to share this bursary information with family, friends, and anyone you believe may benefit from this opportunity. While we are counting on you to help spread the word, ultimately, it is up to the applicants themselves to take the initiative and seize this opportunity.

Additionally, if you would like to support scholarships that provide future generations the opportunity to experience a St Peter’s College education, I invite you to contact Development Manager Mark Colley mcolley@stpeters.sa.edu.au.

These scholarships create profound opportunities, and it is through the ongoing support of our community that we can continue to make such a difference.

As the 177th year of St Peter’s College draws to a close I thank the SPOC Committee and SPOC Events & Administration Manager Bianca Harms for their tireless work in delivering a vibrant old scholar engagement program. Thank you for welcoming our Class of 2024 into your dynamic global network. I am confident that our newest old scholars have graduated as strong and lovely young men, ready to thrive outside the walls of St Peter’s College.

Wishing you and your family a safe and happy Christmas and a positive and prosperous 2025.
