On Thursday 8 December, our Rowing community gathered to attend the premiere of The Tradition Continues documentary tracing the 161-year history of the St Peter’s College Boat Club; the culture, the characters and their contributions.

Narrated by former Director of Rowing Michael Gilmore, the documentary features over 25 interviews with rowers past and present, who recount their shared experiences and how these have shaped their lives today. We learn about the Boat Club's forefathers and the wonderful legacy they created. And we celebrate the success of the Boat Club and the significant contribution it has made to the School over the past 161 years.

The documentary is available to view here: https://vimeo.com/779769752

Thank you to the producers of the documentary, ABCX’s Greg Ashman, Andrew Burch, Kristy Copley and editor Bob Lawrence.

To coincide with the screening our new racing coxed quad/four was christened on the evening. The boat takes the name E.G. Blackmore, after Mr Edwin Gordon Blackmore, a former Governor and Rowing Coach at SPSC, and President of the South Australian Rowing Association in 1893. Blackmore was instrumental in developing Rowing at the School and across the state. The Intercollegiate shield awarded at the Head of the River bears his family name along with the Blackmore Club; an important community that supports Rowing at St Peter’s College.

The ceremony included a speech delivered by Head of Rowing Mr Wade Hall-Craggs, a blessing given by School Chaplain Father Theo McCall before Rowing parent Vanessa Browning christened the E.G. Blackmore.

Thank you to Dr Richard Hamilton (SHT 1963) who provided Leconfield Coonawarra and Richard Hamilton Wines McLaren Vale wines for the evening.

Thank you to all who attended the event.
