The second half of the year has been a busy time for SPOC, with reunions, intercols and special events being held for our members. It has also been wonderful to see our interstate and overseas chapters gathering again after years of disruptions due to the pandemic.

This year we hosted an unprecedented 17 reunions throughout the year, making up for events we unfortunately had to cancel over the last two years.  In November alone, the School welcomed back almost 450 Old Scholars for the 20, 30, 40 and 50 year milestone reunions.

The SPOC Business Lunch and the Old Blues Luncheon held in recent months were a great success, and we were delighted to meet our newest members – this year’s Year 12 students – at our annual Year 12 BBQ, before the boys were presented with their Old Scholars ties at Speech Day.

In conjunction with the School, we’ve recently launched SPOC Connect – a new place for Old Scholars to connect with each other and the School. We’ve been thrilled to see it grow so quickly, with over 1000 Old Scholars having signed up to date. The platform will only get better as engagement grows, so if you haven’t yet signed up, I certainly encourage you to do so.

Service is one of the School's core values, and I am thankful for the teams of volunteers who support the Association, and our SPOC sporting clubs. Our ongoing success is due in no small part to their unwavering passion. I would like to pay special thanks to our President, Oren Klemich, Treasurer, Andrew Jonats, and the entire SPOC Committee for their dedication and support throughout the year, and of course to our tireless Events & Administration Manager, Bianca Harms, who has done a magnificent job in her first year in the role.

Thanks to our corporate partners Berry Funerals, Evans + Ayers, Hewitson Wines, Hindmarsh Plumbing, Klemich Real Estate and Sarah Construction whose contributions and support benefit our SPOC community.

Finally, as we come to the end of the calendar year, I wish you and your families all the very best for the festive season.  I look forward to seeing you at an event in 2023.

Oliver Sheahan (HWK 2007)

Chairman, St Peter's Old Collegians
